Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Northwest Justice Forum. Volunteers play a critical role in the success of the Forum as they help support the operation and execution of the event. Volunteering at the Forum is a great way to meet new people, contribute to the success of this important event, while getting a reduced rate. 

Volunteers must fill out the application and commit to helping on the Wednesday and Thursday of the forum. Volunteers will assist in on-site registration, preparing for workshops, guiding participants during the day, answering questions, facilitating the evaluation process, etc.

For their assistance, volunteers will only have to pay one day's registration fee for the two-day Forum to cover food expenses. If they choose to register for the Keynote Dinner or Pre-Forum training, the cost is as indicated on the registration form.

For 2019, the Forum has reached capacity for volunteer positions. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to be added to a volunteer position wait list as sometimes positions open up. You will only be contacted if a position becomes available.

​How do I apply to be a volunteer?

​To apply to be a volunteer you must complete the volunteer application by clicking on the link at the top of this page. Applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail once their application has been received. All applicants will be notified by June 1st whether they have been accepted to be a volunteer.

​Is there a discounted rate to volunteer?

Yes. As a volunteer you will only need to pay the one day fee for both days of the Forum. This reduced rate covers both days of your registration fee. The registration fee will cover the cost of your food at the Forum for both days.

​What are the expectations of being a volunteer?

​Volunteers are expected to be in attendance at both days (Wednesday, 6/25 and Thursday, 6/26) of the Forum. There will be a mandatory orientation on Tuesday  6/25/19 at 7:15 am. Volunteers represent the Forum and are expected to act professionally and be mindful of their actions and interactions throughout the entire event. Volunteer duties will vary, however the general tasks will include:

• Selling raffle tickets throughout the event during breaks and meals
• Checking participants in at the registration table
• Selling restorative justice “Little Books” to participants
• Distributing and collecting workshop evaluations
• Providing support to workshop presenters (as needed)
• Helping to guide participants to workshop locations and answering questions
• Anything else that is needed to support the execution of the Forum

​Will I have time to enjoy the Forum and go to the workshops that I want to be a part of?

Yes. Most of the ‘work’ time is during the breaks and meals where we will be circulating to sell raffle tickets and stationed to sell books.You may be required to spend some time at the registration table during workshops, but this task will be distributed evenly amongst volunteers. We will do our best to make sure that volunteers get to attend the workshops of their choosing.

​Once you have been accepted as a volunteer you will be provided with a more in-depth e-mail that covers logistics. You will also be adequately informed with any additional information necessary at the Orientation during the first day.
